Hello everyone,
I’ve been using Saturday for about two years now, and I absolutely love the experience. However, I’ve been dealing on and off with gastritis and various stomach issues. For a long time, I blamed it on my coffee consumption and my weakness for delicious food, but eventually I had to accept that regularly ingesting such large amounts of sugar during training and racing might be contributing to my digestive problems.
At this point, I feel a bit lost. I want to perform well on the bike, but I also want to heal and maintain a healthy stomach.
What would you do in my situation?
-
Should I reduce my carbohydrate intake during rides?
-
Should I stop drinking Nektar and rely more on gels or other fueling products?
-
Is there a better balance between sugar and sodium that might be easier on the stomach?
Last week I went a little overboard and ordered a huge amount of Maurten products. Then I realized that many of their products contain very little sodium, if any at all. Now I’m unsure what my fueling strategy should be regarding both carbohydrates and sodium.
At home, I already have sodium citrate, maltodextrin, and regular table sugar. I’ve also purchased Maurten products and some Precision Hydration gels so I can experiment and see what my stomach tolerates best.
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone with experience in endurance nutrition, gastritis, or sensitive stomachs could share some advice. I’m trying to find a solution that allows me to stay healthy while still performing at my best on the bike.
Thank you very much!
